Difficult Passages in Leviticus
In what sense was
it feasible, or not feasible, to assemble the whole congregation before the
door of the tent of meeting (8:4)? Is the bat a bird or mammal (11:19)?
Which day was the day of atonement (16:29-30;
23:27-32)? Does the
rabbit chew the cud (11:5-6)? Can clothing or a house contract leprosy
(13:47-59; 14:33-53)? What is the scapegoat (16:8)? |

Answering False Doctrines
Are men today still bound by the laws in Leviticus, since they are said to
be “a statute for ever” and “an everlasting statute” (16:29, 34)? Do the
distinctions between “unwitting” and willful sins and their respective
punishments imply that we should not teach the Gospel to others because
their hearing it will increase their accountability and punishment (4-5)?
Does the sin-offering involving childbirth imply the doctrine of “original
sin.” |
